Ciampino Airport in Italian is called Aeroporto di Roma-Ciampino. Less known is the name Giovan Battista Pastine Airport. It was originally opened as a military airport, and was opened for civilian use to relieve the Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) airport and to offer space for budget companies and charter flights.
